Mercury returns to Taurus

Mercury has just returned to Taurus at 2:06 pm today, May 16 AEST, where it will reside until June 7. Here’s my take on how it may express in those born with this placement.
Mercury thinks slowly and methodically about tangible and practical matters in Taurus. The focus is on facts and present concerns rather than abstract or theoretical speculation. Steady and steadfast in their approach to problem solving, and blessed with common sense and an aptitude for making money, those with this placement prefer tried and proven strategies for doing so, like having a stable and reliable job, or investing in blue-chip stocks over risky start-up ventures for example. Short and to the point is their preferred conversational style, which doesn’t preclude a capacity for sustained and concentrated mental effort, as the work of Sigmund Freud and twentieth century philosophers Bertrand Russell and Ludwig Wittgenstein readily demonstrates. On a different note, their voice can have a pleasing quality well suited to teaching, public speaking, acting and singing, and they can have a love of language for it’s sensual qualities of tone, rhythm and texture. Jazz trumpeter Miles Davis with his distinctive trumpet sound has this placement.
Negatively, the natural skepticism of this Mercury can degenerate into a dogmatic refusal to even consider the existence of things that cannot be verified by the evidence of the physical senses. If it can’t be seen, heard, tasted, touched or smelt it doesn’t exist. End of story. There goes the sky fairy, nature spirits, and the vast and mysterious realm of the intangibles and invisibles ..
