Capricorn New Moon is conjunct Venus

The upcoming Capricorn New Moon is conjunct Venus the planet of love and relationship and most significantly, values. Here’s a little challenge to Capricorn’s to get straight on their values lest they live to regret it. Excerpted from my book Signs of the Zodiac: Clothing of the Self
Let us take it that Capricorns are good at achieving success and well-deserved public recognition. Still the question remains at what cost, for their personal lives may come to resemble a desert – dry and barren, devoid of love and pleasure. Doing it tough comes easy to Capricorn. And although they are prone to give out the message “I don’t need you and I don’t want you to need me either”, inside they are just as needy as their opposite sign Cancer. May be even more so. If you spend most of your life in self-denial it stands to reason you would be, doesn’t it?
So I challenge you Capricorn to get real. Get your values straight before you live to regret it. Ask yourself: Are you working to live or living to work? Are you spending all your time making money and none making love? Sure it’s a cliché to say it, but who on their death-bed laments not spending enough time at the office? Life is about love, stupid. How rich is your love life? What shape is your marriage in? Or are you single and lonely, trading sex for love. Sex can be bought, but not love. You know that. You could write a book about it. Sustaining a loving relationship, just as much as a successful career, requires a commitment of time, energy and yes, lots of hard work too. As the poet Rainer Maria Rilke so cogently put it: “For one human being to love another is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but preparation.”
Or is this all just too wet for you? If so, this little piece of worldly wisdom may serve to give you pause: “Where there’s marriage without love, there will be love without marriage.” – Benjamin Franklin

This whole issue is writ large in the all too common scenario of income rich, time poor, high achievers in the upper echelons of business and politics who don’t realize how personally out of touch they are until their health or marriage breaks down and with it their whole support system. Only then do they see how needy and dependent they really are, for the truth is they couldn’t function without a veritable army of personal assistants, domestic help and supportive partners. So Capricorn, back to school if that fits you. Learn how to nurture yourself, love your spouse, and get a life!
