Pisces energy dominates for another few days, so here’s a vignette on the sign Pisces excerpted from my book, Signs of the Zodiac: Clothing of the Self..
Pisces twices .. dwellers in the dreamtime, seeking the divine .. ravers, ragers, dancing trippers .. trance dancing out of their minds .. lost in rapture, gone, gone, gone .. stoned crazy dharma bums, getting out of it to get into it .. losing themselves in order to find themselves .. legends of their own minds
Artists, healers, bhaktas, dreamers .. romantic sensitive souls, filled with longing .. longing for they know not what .. longing for their soul mate .. longing for a transcendent love .. longing for an end to the pain of separation .. longing to dissolve in an ocean of love, as an individual wave merges into the very waters that gave it birth ..
Ah yes, Pisceans make devoted lovers, and often sacrifice their lives on love’s altar. Consider the defining example of Jesus, who in the Christian understanding, was sacrificed by God his father, a God of Love, to atone for the sins of mankind. The image of Christ crucified on the cross, I would argue, is the defining symbol of the Piscean Age, whose span broadly corresponds to that of the Christian era.
Piscean human love yearns above all for a soul connection, a connection that is felt to be so deep and so profound when in full flower, that it transcends the purely physical dimensions of time and space to bloom forever in a realm not of this world. Nothing less than such a love it seems, can quiet the yearning that burns like an eternal flame in the deeply mystical Piscean heart ..
Some Piscean old souls, world weary from lifetimes of enduring this earthly vale of tears devote themselves to making this incarnation their final one before shipping out once and for all – to reach to the further shore, their sole life purpose. For they have experienced to the depths of their very being the First Noble Truth of Buddhism: ‘All is suffering’. Serve or suffer, their inexorable fate? I prefer the bodhisattva injunction of ‘joyful participation in the sorrows of the world.’
“If you really want to help this world, what you will have to teach is how to live in it. And that no-one can do who has not himself learned how to live in it, in the joyful sorrow and the sorrowful joy of the knowledge of life as it is.”
